Health Screening

Heart, vascular and metabolic screening: start with your risk profile

Major Korean screening centers offer cardiovascular and metabolic-focused programs, but the most appropriate tests depend on age, symptoms, blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, smoking history, family history and previous cardiovascular disease.

Core metabolic assessment

Often includes:

  • blood pressure
  • fasting glucose and/or HbA1c
  • lipid profile
  • liver function
  • kidney function
  • body weight and waist circumference
  • body composition where available

Cardiovascular testing

Depending on the program and risk:

  • ECG
  • exercise testing
  • echocardiography
  • carotid ultrasound
  • coronary calcium / CT-based assessment
  • other vascular studies

Brain / cerebrovascular screening

Some premium or intensive programs include brain MRI/MRA or carotid imaging. These tests should be considered in context. Routine advanced neuroimaging in every asymptomatic person may identify incidental findings that require further evaluation.

What to prepare

  • blood pressure history
  • diabetes history
  • cholesterol results
  • smoking history
  • chest pain, breathlessness or exercise symptoms
  • family history of early heart disease or stroke
  • current medications

If you already have active chest pain, neurological symptoms, or other concerning symptoms, this is not a screening situation and urgent medical evaluation may be needed.
