The value of a health check-up depends on what happens after the result

Possible result pathways

• Normal / low-risk result. The report may recommend routine screening intervals and lifestyle measures.
• Minor abnormality. Examples: elevated cholesterol, fatty liver, borderline glucose, mild anemia, benign-appearing findings. Follow-up may be appropriate with primary care or a specialist depending on the finding.
• Finding that needs additional testing. Examples: suspicious imaging, significant laboratory abnormality, polyp pathology, positive screening test. Ask whether additional testing can be arranged during the same Korea visit.
• Finding that may require treatment. If a clinically important condition is detected, the next step may involve a specialist department rather than the screening center itself.

Before leaving Korea, obtain

• English result report where available
• imaging files or access instructions
• pathology reports where relevant
• medication or follow-up recommendations
• specialist referral information if needed
• timeline for any pending pathology result
