Your own fat for cheeks and forehead
Fat is taken from the thigh or lower abdomen through a small incision, purified, and injected into hollow areas such as the cheeks, temples and forehead. Swelling is obvious for about a week and settles over a month. Part of the transferred fat is reabsorbed by the body.

Good to know
- Expect visible swelling for 5–7 days, since the face is deliberately overfilled at first.
- Avoid pressure, massage or sleeping face-down on the treated areas for 2 weeks.
- Care for the donor site as instructed; a compression garment may be advised.
- No smoking or alcohol for 2 weeks, as both affect how much fat survives.
Questions
How much of the fat stays?
Roughly 50–70% survives in most cases, and the fat that survives is permanent. A touch-up session is sometimes suggested.
Where is the fat taken from?
Usually the thigh or lower abdomen, through a tiny incision that leaves a small mark.
Fat grafting or filler?
Fat suits larger volume and a softer look, while filler suits smaller, reversible changes. Discuss both with your doctor.
